To get a salary advance with Openwage, download our app from the Apple App Store or Google PlayStore. When you set up your account, we'll ask you for the name of your employer. If your employer has signed up to Openwage, then you'll be able to access your pay on-demand after passing a few simple checks. If they haven't yet signed up, you can refer your employer.
Salary advance, earned wage access, and on-demand pay terms are used interchangeably, although traditionally a salary advance is something you asked your employer for. However, earned wage access is predominantly used in the US while on-demand pay is used mostly in the UK. Now, you can get a salary advance, early wage access, or on-demand pay without having to ask your employer.
When you get your pay on-demand, you're getting early access to your salary. On-demand pay isn't a loan or any form of borrowing, so there's no interest to pay, unlike credit cards and payday loans.
Yes, Openwage gives UK employees access to salary advances.
There is no impact on your credit score from using early pay access with Openwage. Whilst we do use your bank account information to get an accurate, up-to-date financial situation, this leaves no trace on your credit file.
Yes, your employer needs to be signed up with us and offering Openwage as a benefit to you. However, you can anonymously refer your employer and we'll contact them to see if they are interested in making access to pay fair and flexible.
